Luxury & Exotic Car Shipping in Dubai
When the car is a Ferrari, a Rolls-Royce or a one-off hypercar, shipping stops being freight and becomes asset protection. Opera Shipping moves luxury and exotic vehicles in and out of Dubai by air — the fastest, lowest-touch and most climate-stable way to relocate a high-value car — with insurance to the vehicle's full value, enclosed handling, and complete customs and GCC-conformity support from collection to registration.
For most of our clients the price of shipping was never the concern; the concern is the certainty that an irreplaceable car arrives intact and road-legal. That certainty is what we are built to deliver.
Best Shipping Option for Exotics
- Air Freight (preferred). Our preferred route for high-value and luxury cars. Vehicles fly direct to or from Dubai, typically within days, with minimal handling and climate-controlled, discreet transport.
- Sea Freight. A single-car, sole-use enclosed container is the considered alternative. The car travels alone, never sharing space. A longer, lower-cost route for planned moves.
What we need for a quote:
- Vehicle make, model and running condition
- Approximate vehicle value (for insurance)
- Origin and destination locations
- Preferred timeframe and any fixed deadlines
Why air freight for a high-value car
For a supercar, grand tourer or collector car, air freight is our default — not an upsell. A car in an enclosed air container is handled the fewest times, spends the least time in transit, and travels in a stable, weather-protected environment, which is exactly what a seven-figure asset needs. Air also suits the reality of the market: the highest-value cars moving between the UAE and Europe, the UK, the USA and Canada overwhelmingly travel by air.
A dedicated container is the considered alternative where air is not required or not available — the car travels alone, never sharing space. Shared containers and roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) exist and we can arrange them, but they involve open handling and shared space, so they are not part of our luxury proposition. On the exotic track, air leads and enclosed container follows.
Marques We Ship
We handle current supercars, grand tourers, luxury SUVs such as the Purosangue and Cullinan, classic and collector cars, and limited-run hypercars. Dedicated shipping pages are rolling out marque by marque:
If your car is not listed, it does not mean we cannot ship it — send the model and we will confirm.
What Makes Exotic Car Shipping Different
Insurance to the car's full value
Cover is not capped at a standard ceiling. We offer Clause A (All Risk) and Clause C (Total Loss) marine cover, and the insured value is set to the car's true worth — there is no upper value limit on what we will carry.
Low ground clearance & delicate bodywork
Supercars sit low, often with front splitters and active aero, and many use carbon panels. They are loaded at shallow angles, soft-tied and moved under cover — never dragged up an open ramp.
Air preparation
For air freight the fuel tank or drive battery is kept below a quarter, and hybrids and EVs are handled to the carrier's battery rules. We manage this as part of collection.
GCC-spec conformity
A car that is not GCC-specification must be certified before it can be registered in the UAE. This is the step that most often surprises importers, and we handle it end to end.
One accountable coordinator
Every shipment is run by a single point of contact who keeps you updated discreetly, rather than passing you between departments.
How luxury car shipping works — step by step
Our car shipping process is the same whether the car is arriving into Dubai (import) or leaving it (export):
Quote and booking
You tell us the car, its value, and the origin and destination; we confirm method and paperwork.
Enclosed collection and condition inspection
The car is collected under cover, photographed and documented before it moves.
Export documentation at origin
Title/registration, export clearance, and (for cars leaving Dubai) the RTA export certificate and deregistration.
Air transit with tracking
Fuel/battery prepared for air, one coordinator updating you throughout.
UAE customs clearance
Vehicle Clearance Certificate (VCC), GCC-spec conformity via MoIAT where required, and duty and VAT settled.
RTA inspection, registration and delivery
Inspection, Mulkiya (registration) and door-to-door delivery of the car to you.
Shipping methods — air, sea and what we recommend
Air freight (recommended)
Fastest, enclosed, climate-stable and lowest-touch. Our default for high-value cars, in either direction.
Dedicated container (second choice)
Sole-use of an enclosed container for one car, for owners who do not need air speed but still want protected, private transport.
Shared container / RoRo (not recommended)
Lower-cost options that involve shared or open handling; available, but outside the luxury proposition. We will tell you honestly when a car should not travel this way.
We ship both to Dubai (import) and from Dubai (export). Export peaks in the March–June window, when supercars move to Europe for the summer — book early for that season.
UAE Customs, Duties & GCC-Spec Compliance
Importing a car into the UAE carries a 5% customs duty, calculated on the vehicle's value plus freight and insurance, and 5% VAT on the duty-inclusive value. The headline figure is 5% + 5%, but the real landed cost commonly runs 13–18% above the car's value once conformity, inspection, insurance and registration are included. We set expectations on the full figure up front — no surprises.
A non-GCC-specification car needs a GCC Conformity Certificate from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) before it can be registered. The sequence is: customs clearance, Vehicle Clearance Certificate, MoIAT conformity where required, RTA inspection, insurance, then registration and Mulkiya with plates.
The UAE registers left-hand-drive cars for road use; right-hand-drive is restricted, with narrow exceptions for approved classics, and cars over ten years old may need pre-approval. Main entry ports are Jebel Ali (Dubai), Khalifa (Abu Dhabi) and Khalid (Sharjah). Requirements vary by car and origin — we handle the whole chain.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best luxury car shipping options in Dubai?
For a high-value car, air freight in an enclosed container is the strongest option — fastest and lowest-touch. A dedicated, sole-use enclosed sea container is the considered alternative. Shared container and RoRo are lower-cost but involve open or shared handling, so we do not recommend them for exotics.
What is the process for shipping a luxury car to or from Dubai?
Quote and booking, enclosed collection and inspection, export documentation, air transit with tracking, UAE customs and GCC conformity, then RTA registration and door-to-door delivery. One coordinator manages the whole journey.
Are there special rules for importing a luxury car into the UAE?
Yes. Non-GCC-spec cars need MoIAT conformity certification before registration, the UAE registers left-hand-drive vehicles for road use, and cars over ten years old may need pre-approval. Duty is 5% plus 5% VAT. We manage each of these steps.
How do you keep a high-value car safe in transit?
Enclosed handling from collection, shallow-angle loading and soft-tie securing, a documented condition report, insurance to the car's full value, and one coordinator accountable for the shipment throughout.
Is my luxury car insured during shipping?
Yes. We arrange marine cover to the car's true value — Clause A (All Risk), which protects against damage as well as loss, or Clause C (Total Loss). There is no upper cap on the value we will insure and carry.
How much does it cost to ship a luxury car to or from Dubai?
It depends on the car, the method (air or enclosed container), the route, the season and the insured value, plus UAE duty and VAT on import. Rather than quote a misleading figure, we price each shipment to the actual car and route — request a free quote and we will give you the full picture.
Can you ship from Dubai as well as to Dubai?
Yes — we handle both import and export. Export is busiest from March to June, when owners move supercars to Europe for the summer.
