How to Choose the Best Exotic Car Transport Company for a Move to or from Dubai

The best exotic car transport company for your car is the one that can show you, in writing, how it will be collected, loaded, protected, insured and handed over at the other end. Reputation and photographs help, but they do not answer those questions. A careful comparison of scope does.

This guide gives you eight checks to run on any provider before you book, and the questions that reveal how each one really works. They apply whether the car is a supercar, a classic or a rare collector’s piece moving into or out of Dubai.

1. Who is actually doing the work

Ask whether the company you are speaking to will handle the car itself, or arrange others to do parts of the job. Both models exist in vehicle shipping. The US regulator’s consumer advisory on auto transporters makes the same distinction between brokers and carriers, and it is a useful question in any market.

Neither answer is wrong. What matters is that you know who has custody of the car at each stage, and who you call if something changes.

2. Licensing for the customs work

Customs brokerage in Dubai is a licensed activity. Dubai Customs issues a no objection certificate for trade licences with brokerage activity. Ask who will clear the car through customs at each end and under which licence. For an export, ask who files the export declaration. For an import, ask who handles the clearance and the vehicle clearance certificate.

3. A written quote that shows where the service ends

A quotation for an exotic car should state the collection point, the handling, the main leg, the destination clearance and the final handover point. Our guide to air freight car shipping costs shows how to compare two quotes when one ends at the airport and the other at your door. Ask for anything excluded to be listed by name.

4. How the car will be loaded

Low ground clearance changes the options. RoRo vessels load cars over ramps, and carriers set their own clearance rules. One RoRo line’s receiving requirements, for example, ask for enough clearance to handle on-board ramps with a minimum inclination of 6.5 degrees. A car that cannot meet the ramp angle needs a different method. Our comparison of RoRo and container car shipping explains how each method works.

Ask the provider which method they recommend for your car and why. For an exotic car, the realistic comparison is usually between a dedicated container and air freight. A good answer refers to your car’s dimensions, clearance and deadline, not to a standard package.

5. Insurance you can read before you sign

A carrier’s liability is not the same as cargo insurance. A specialist transport insurer explains that liability cover is negligence-based and subject to limits set by convention or contract, while cargo insurance responds to insured events regardless of fault. Ask for the actual policy terms: insured value, excess, exclusions and which stages are covered, from collection to handover. Our guide to how car shipping insurance differs from carrier liability explains the limits by air and by sea.

6. Condition records at every handover

Ask what is recorded when the car is collected, when it is loaded and when it is delivered. Photographs with dates, a written note of existing marks and a copy you keep are the minimum worth expecting. These records can be what an insurer asks for if a claim is made.

Never sign a blank or incomplete handover document. The US regulator’s moving tips give the same advice for household moves, and it applies just as well to a car.

7. One person who knows the whole journey

A shipment passes through collection drivers, warehouse staff, customs brokers and carriers. Ask who your single point of contact is, and whether they will update you at each milestone. This matters most when the person organising the move is an assistant or relocation coordinator acting for the owner.

8. Evidence of similar work

Ask to see examples of comparable vehicles and routes. Real movements, described accurately, tell you more than a claim of experience. You can see examples of the vehicles and routes we have handled on our Our Works page.

Questions to send every provider

Copy these into your enquiry so each quotation answers the same points:

  1. Who has custody of the car at each stage, and who is my contact?
  2. Which method do you recommend for this car, and why?
  3. What exactly is included, from collection to final handover?
  4. Who handles customs at origin and destination, and under which licence?
  5. What insurance applies, for what value, with what excess and exclusions?
  6. What condition records will I receive, and when?
