Ship a Bugatti to Dubai
Shipping a Bugatti is not a question of whether it fits an aircraft. It fits. The question is whether the car arrives in exactly the state the factory at Molsheim expects it to be in — and what happens if it does not, given that most of these cars can no longer be built.
Opera Shipping moves Bugattis into and out of Dubai by air: enclosed, climate-stable, handled the fewest possible times, insured with no upper limit on value, and run by one coordinator from collection through to RTA registration. Whether it is a Tourbillon arriving new from France, a Chiron moving into a UAE collection, or a Veyron being repatriated to Europe, the car is treated as what it is — this is the Bugatti-specific version of our luxury and exotic car shipping service.
The fastest answer: how to ship a Bugatti to Dubai
- Recommended method: air freight in an enclosed unit — fastest, lowest-touch, climate-stable, and the only method that keeps the car out of third-party hands.
- Considered second: a dedicated, sole-use enclosed sea container.
- Not recommended: a shared container or open RoRo. Not for this car, in any circumstance.
To quote your Bugatti we need:
- Model and year
- Origin city and country, UAE destination
- Whether the car is GCC-specification
- Whether it is road-homologated
- Your timeline
The reality of shipping a Bugatti: the factory defines the state, and there is no second car
Every other exotic on our roster presents a physical problem — a Ferrari's splitter, a Lamborghini's mirrors, a Phantom's length. A Bugatti is dimensionally unremarkable. What makes it difficult is that its condition is defined by Molsheim, and nothing about it can be put right locally.
Bugatti publishes a transport setting, and it is not the setting the car is usually in
The Chiron's published technical specification lists five ride heights. The highest is labelled "Lift (transport)" — 125 mm front and rear. The others descend: EB at 115/116 mm, Autobahn and Handling at 95/115 mm, and Top Speed at 80 mm front, 85 mm rear. A Chiron handed over in Top Speed mode sits 45 mm lower at the nose than the mode the manufacturer names for moving it.
We confirm the car is in its transport setting before it goes anywhere near a ramp, and we confirm which keys we have — Bugatti has used a second Speed Key since the Veyron, and on the Tourbillon it is the key that lifts the limiter from 380 km/h to 445 km/h. Key custody is part of the handover, not an afterthought.
There is no local fix for anything
Bugatti's service model is roughly thirty service partners worldwide, coordinated from Molsheim, backed by factory Flying Doctors and Flying Technicians who travel to the car rather than the car travelling to them. Bugatti's own position is that where a car cannot be worked on locally it may have to be transported back to the central workshop — costly and slow, in its words, particularly for cars outside Europe.
That is the whole argument for enclosed air in one sentence. A scuff that a dealer would absorb on an ordinary supercar becomes a freight movement back to Alsace on this one.
The cars cannot be replaced, so total-loss cover is not cover
The Chiron was capped at 500 cars and the last of them was completed in 2024. The W16 Mistral, limited to 99, was the final W16 model and its production has now ended. The Tourbillon is limited to 250, and all of them are spoken for. These are closed numbers.
If a car is lost, no amount of money reopens the line. That is why we write Clause A (All Risk) cover on Bugattis, to the car's full value with no upper cap — Clause C (Total Loss) pays out on a car that no longer exists and cannot be bought again.
Consumables are factory items, not shelf items
The Chiron's tyres were developed for it and X-rayed individually before fitment, on a rig originally built for Space Shuttle tyres. You do not source a replacement locally. Anything damaged in transit is a factory order with a factory lead time — which is why we handle the car as if there were no repair path at all.
Air versus sea freight for a Bugatti
Air freight (recommended)
The Bugatti travels in an enclosed unit, climate-stable, with the fewest possible handling events between Molsheim or your origin gateway and Dubai. Fuel or battery charge is kept under a quarter for flight — on a Chiron, with its 100-litre tank, that is under 25 litres. This is how the great majority of these cars move between Europe and the UAE, and it is the default we recommend.
See how air freight worksDedicated enclosed sea container (considered second)
One car, one container, sole use, sealed and private — for owners who do not need air speed and accept a longer window.
Explore Dedicated ContainersNot for this car. We offer shared containers and RoRo, and both involve shared space, open decks or third-party drivers. Neither is appropriate for a car that cannot be repaired locally or replaced at all.
How shipping a Bugatti to Dubai works
Quote and booking
Model, year, homologation status, origin and UAE destination. We confirm the method, the documentation and a realistic window.
Enclosed collection and condition report
The car is collected under cover, set to its transport ride height, and comprehensively photographed before it moves. Keys — including any Speed Key — are logged.
Export documentation at origin
Title or registration document and export clearance. If the car is leaving Dubai instead, the RTA export certificate and deregistration.
Air transit with tracking
Fuel or battery prepared to the under-a-quarter rule, the car secured in an enclosed unit, with one coordinator updating you at each stage.
UAE customs clearance
Vehicle Clearance Certificate, GCC-spec conformity through MoIAT where the car is not already GCC-specification, and 5% duty plus 5% VAT settled. See importing a car to the UAE.
RTA inspection, registration and delivery
Inspection, Mulkiya and plates, then enclosed delivery to your address, storage facility or collection.
Documents and customs for a Bugatti
On import the UAE charges 5% customs duty on the car's value plus freight and insurance, and 5% VAT on the duty-inclusive total. In practice the all-in landed cost on a high-value car commonly lands 13–18% above the car's value once conformity, inspection, insurance and registration are added — we set that expectation before you commit.
A Bugatti that is not GCC-specification needs a GCC Conformity Certificate from MoIAT before the RTA will register it, and the UAE registers left-hand-drive cars for road use. Because the declared value drives the duty calculation on a car of this order, accurate valuation and clean paperwork matter more here than anywhere else.
Keep the factory file with the car: Bugatti's own "Bugatti Certified" programme rests on documented condition and originality, and a gap in that record follows the car for the rest of its life.

Bugatti specs, handling and transit
A Bugatti is easier to fit than owners expect. A Tourbillon measures 4,671 mm long, 2,051 mm wide — 2,165 mm across the mirrors — and 1,189 mm tall on a 2,740 mm wheelbase, at under 1,995 kg DIN. A Chiron is 4,544 × 2,038 × 1,212 mm at 1,995 kg. That is narrower across the mirrors than a Lamborghini Revuelto, shorter than a Phantom Extended and lighter than a Spectre. The constraint is not the equipment; it is the discipline.
Cars fly into DXB or DWC; enclosed sea shipments route through Jebel Ali. Transit time depends on origin, routing and method, so we confirm a realistic door-to-door window at booking rather than publish a number that will not hold.
Bugatti models we ship
Pre-war and classic Bugattis are moved enclosed as standard. Note that the Bolide is not homologated for road use — it can be imported, but it cannot be RTA-registered and is handled as a track car. UAE rules apply more scrutiny to cars over ten years old, and cars over thirty may qualify as classics with a permit; we confirm the position for your specific chassis before anything is booked.
Shipping a Bugatti from Dubai
Export runs in the other direction just as often. The busiest window is March to June, when owners move cars out of the UAE ahead of the summer — commonly to France, Switzerland, Italy and the UK, and frequently back toward Molsheim for factory work. We handle the RTA export certificate and deregistration at this end and the import formalities at the other. See exporting a car from Dubai and our Dubai to Europe route. Book that window early; enclosed air capacity for cars of this class is finite.
Tracking, safety and insurance
The car is enclosed from collection, secured at the wheels rather than the bodywork, and covered by a documented condition report so its state is recorded before and after transit. Your coordinator updates you at collection, departure, arrival, clearance and delivery.
On cover, the distinction is not academic here: we insure to the car's full value as Clause A (All Risk), which responds to damage in transit, rather than Clause C (Total Loss), which pays only if the car is lost outright. On a car from a closed production run, a total-loss settlement does not put you back in a Bugatti. There is no upper cap on the value we will insure, and we do not publish one.
What shapes your Bugatti shipping quote
We do not publish a figure, because any figure we published would be wrong for your car. What actually moves the number:
- The method, air or a dedicated enclosed container
- The origin and routing
- The car's declared value, which drives both the insurance and the UAE duty
- Homologation status and whether MoIAT conformity is required
- The season, with March to June the tightest window
- The specific model and its handling requirements
Tell us the chassis and the route and we will price it properly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I ship my Bugatti to Dubai safely?
By air, in an enclosed unit, with the car set to its factory transport ride height, secured at the wheels, insured to full value on Clause A all-risk terms, and run by one coordinator from collection to RTA registration. A sole-use enclosed sea container is the considered alternative.
How much does it cost to ship a Bugatti to Dubai?
It varies with method, origin, declared value, homologation status and season, plus UAE duty and VAT on import. We do not publish a flat figure because it would mislead. Request a free quote and we will price your exact car and route.
Can a Bugatti actually be flown?
Yes, and it is the method we recommend. A Tourbillon is 2,165 mm across the mirrors and under 1,995 kg — well within enclosed air handling. Fitment is not the constraint on this car; handling discipline is.
How much fuel can be in the car for air freight?
Under a quarter of capacity. On a Chiron, with a 100-litre tank, that means under 25 litres. We manage the drawdown at collection so the car arrives at the gateway already compliant.
How do you handle a Tourbillon's hybrid battery?
The Tourbillon's 24.8 kWh, 800-volt battery is built into the carbon monocoque as a structural element, so it cannot be removed or shipped separately. State of charge is brought down in the car and documented before flight, to the same under-a-quarter rule.
Does my Bugatti need GCC-spec conformity?
If it is not already GCC-specification, yes. You will need a GCC Conformity Certificate from MoIAT before the RTA will register it. We arrange the conformity step as part of clearance.
Can a Bugatti Bolide be registered in Dubai?
No. The Bolide is a track-only car and is not homologated for road use, so it cannot be RTA-registered. It can still be imported and moved, and we handle it as a track car rather than a road car.
Who services a Bugatti in Dubai?
Bugatti's official UAE partner is Al Habtoor Motors on Sheikh Zayed Road, which has held the franchise since 2006 and is the brand's largest service partner in the Middle East, backed by the factory's travelling technicians from Molsheim. We are not affiliated with either; we simply plan the move around the fact that Dubai is one of the few destinations where this car is properly supported.
What happens if my Bugatti is damaged in transit?
Clause A all-risk cover responds, and the condition report taken at collection establishes the baseline. Practically, we plan to avoid it: on a closed-production car, parts and specialist attention come from the factory, and the settlement will not buy you another one.
Can you ship a Bugatti from Dubai as well as to it?
Yes. Export is busiest March to June, typically toward Europe and often back to France. We handle RTA deregistration and the export certificate here, and the import side at destination.
